Day 21 Dog a Day Huxley at the gate.

Day 21 Dog a Day Huxley by the Gate

Day 21. I actually got this image done before noon today, actually while eating breakfast. As the sun comes up in the morning we get this pretty dramatic shadow coming through the back gate, since I generally talk about photography as the act of recording observation I’ll just say: I like how this looked.

The reason I needed to get done early with Dog a Day today was because Phoenix Art Space came over this afternoon to interview me about my upcoming Fine Art project. I will link the article on tysoncrosbie.com/blog as soon as it is posted next week.

The Phoenix series of images is currently being edited to 20 from about 2000 raw images taken over 10 months. I will also be placing all twenty images in a self-published photo book scheduled for release May 15th, 2008. Look here for more information around the 1st of May.

Day 20 Dog a Day Squid the yawn

Day 20 Dog a Day The Yawn

Jamie loves horses, she practically grew up on a horse farm. Since we have moved to Phoenix she has been saying over and over that she wants to buy a horse, so I bought her a horse one day. A toy horse. Today she asked me to photograph it, she set it down on the floor and a strange thing happened, Squid totally started guarding the little toy horse. It was his little baby for a few minutes, he even snapped at Huxley for getting too close.

For some reason when our dogs get a lot of nervous energy or when they are being defiant they end up yawning, I suppose it releases the pressure.

Paws for @rianfowler

Day 17 Dog a Day

Two entries today. (I’m tryin’ to catch up.)

Day 18 Dog a Day

“Paws” for my friend @rianfowler he does something important at eBay and is trying to introduce twitter to the culture of eBay. It only took about a month to convince him of how cool twitter is. I admit I was skeptical at first as well, the last thing I ever need is another place on the internet to maintain my identity. Hopefully in the future there will be a consolidation that will allow me to login to my own domain and control all the information and sources that define “me”. Then others can come in and source from me what is useful to them and place those widgets on their own domain.

Ah, one can dream right?

Day 16 Dog a Day. Squid “dodgeball”

Day 16 Dog a Day

I am running two days behind on the dog a day project, sorry about that. The good news is a lot of good things have been happening for me lately in Phoenix. So it isn’t really a case of being lazy so much as just being slammed with a lot of new work. Today for instance I attended the PodCampAZ work up and we accomplished a ton of things today with an incredible group of people.

When Jamie and I first moved here I was not really excited about the prospect of living in Phoenix. It was hot and strangely organized (where was downtown anyway?) It took me several months to kind of figure out the city and settle down enough to even consider starting to build my studio up. Now through the process of becoming a part of the community here and meeting so many amazing people in the city of Phoenix also being encouraged by the new growth of the city and trying to become part of it all it is hard to imagine a better place to work.

Feel free to share your story about how you came to live in Phoenix in the comments below.
